Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who is serving her seven-year sentence in the Kachanivska penal colony in Kharkiv, has been examined by a commission of the Ukrainian Health Ministry.

The commission included nine leading experts in various fields of medicine, the ministry’s press service reported on Thursday, jan.5.

The report notes that Tymoshenko’s health condition was "declared satisfactory" after the medical examination.

"Experts have made recommendations regarding Tymoshenko’s further medical treatment, in particular, [Tymoshenko was advised] to move more, have a remedial massage and do a range of physical therapy exercises," the ministry said.

Tymoshenko was also offered to have her blood tests done at Health Ministry medical centers, but the offer was again rejected.

Officials with the Kharkiv regional sanitary and epidemiological service and Health Ministry rated Tymoshenko’s living conditions at the prison as "satisfactory."

"The intensity of the night lamp in Tymoshenko’s cell was qualified as compliant with the international standard of light density at medical centers and not distributing during sleep or rest," the press service said. On October 11, 2011, the Pechersky District Court in Kyiv sentenced Tymoshenko to seven years in prison for abuse of office in signing a gas deal with Russia in 2009.

Tymoshenko has been in a pre-trial detention center in Kyiv since August 5, 2011. On December 30, she was transferred to Kachanivska Penal Colony No. 54 in Kharkiv.
