The Ukrainian presidential administration has dismissed allegations by the opposition that the government wants to kill the former prime minister and leader of the Batkivschyna Party, Yulia Tymoshenko.

Asked by reporters whether the authorities want Tymoshenko dead, head of the Ukrainian president’s administration Serhiy Liovochkin said: "This is absolutely untrue. The president has repeatedly expressed his sympathy for Tymoshenko, for the situation she has found herself in."

At the same time, Liovochkin said that court sentences had to be executed.

On Jan.10, first deputy head of the Batkivschyna Party Oleksandr Turchynov said that Tymoshenko was unconscious for over two hours in Kachanivska penal colony in Kharkiv, after she was given unknown medicines.

He added that Tymoshenko had been given drugs to treat an acute viral infection.

The statement by the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko-Batkivshchyna faction in parliament contains allegations that President Viktor Yanukovych is trying to kill imprisoned ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.
