The presiding judge, Serhiy Vovk, announced such a decision at 1800 on Tuesday.

Starting from 14.00 until the end of the court session on Tuesday, the judge read out more than 20 out of nearly 40 protocols of the interrogation of witnesses who gave evidence during pre-trial investigation at the Prosecutor General's Office and those who said that they could not attend court sessions for various reasons and circumstances.

According to Lutsenko's lawyer, Oleksiy Bahanets, the trial of the ex-minister was actually completed.

"Today the trial of Lutsenko has finished! The next stage is just the announcement of the indictment. Witnesses and defense lawyers are no longer needed. We are powerless in the Ukrainian courts," the press service of the People's Self-Defense Party quoted the lawyer as saying.
