Germany and Canada are the only countries that are planning to send doctors to examine former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported on Wednesday.

"Germany and Canada are the only countries that, after a respective statement was sent by the Health Ministry, the Foreign Ministry and the Prosecutor General’s Office to all states concerned, have expressed their interest in attracting doctors to examine Tymoshenko," reads the statement.

The press service noted that on Jan. 31, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry invited the ambassadors of Germany and Canada to meet with representatives of the Foreign Ministry and the Health Ministry and discuss the practical aspects of the involvement of foreign doctors in Tymoshenko’s examination.

At the meeting, the Ukrainian side reaffirmed its readiness soon to form a special joint medical commission that will urgently examine the ex-premier.

"With a view to the speedy start of the work of such a commission, representatives of the Ukrainian Health Ministry asked the heads of the diplomatic missions of Germany and Canada to promptly provide documents confirming the professional qualifications of their proposed candidates and report the date of their possible arrival in Ukraine," the ministry said.
