Yulia Tymoshenko has sent a letter to United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, thanking her for support, said the Ukrainian former prime minister's daughter Yevhenia.

"Actually, it is a private letter and I cannot comment on it. But mum thanked her for the support and for supporting the democracy that still remains in Ukraine," Yevhenia told Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.

In her letter, Tymoshenko expressed confidence that the U.S. position will be able to influence the resolution of the Ukrainian political crisis, she said.

Clinton stressed that the U.S. State Department has always supported and will continue to support Tymoshenko and Ukrainian political detainees, and will apply new tools and methods to influence a change in the course chosen by Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and government, Tymoshenko’s daughter said.

Clinton did not say that the State Department will send representatives to Ukraine to study the political situation in the country, the ex-prime minister’s daughter said.

However, at her meetings with the State Department and presidential administration officials she did ask for support and help, and for a visit by administration officials to Ukraine, she said.

"We were told that this is possible but have not been given exact dates yet," Yevhenia Tymoshenko said.
