The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) will consider on April 17 a complaint lodged by former Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko, who claims his arrest and the decision on his detention were arbitrary and unlawful, reads a statement posted on the court's official Web site on Thursday, March 22.

The ECHR Grand Chamber will hold a hearing, begin its deliberations in private, and then issue its final ruling on the case.

As reported, Lutsenko was detained near his home on De. 26, 2010. On Dec., 27 Pechersky District Court in Kyiv ordered his arrest due to the fact that "the defendant did not visit the investigator, thus grossly violating the requirements envisaged by a travel ban."

On Feb. 27, 2012, Pechersky District Court in Kyiv found Lutsenko guilty of committing official crimes and sentenced him to four years in prison, with confiscation of his property.
