Former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko has given her consent to hospitalization outside the Kachanivska penal colony in Kharkiv, where she is serving her seven-year sentence, First Deputy Health Minister Raisa Moiseyenko said.

"Yulia Volodymyrivna gave consent to her hospitalization. We have such a decision. After a consultation, which she is planning to hold tomorrow, I think, a decision will be made and we will be able to arrange everything necessary for her treatment," Moiseyenko told reporters on Monday.

She added that Tymoshenko received a proposition to undergo treatment at the central railway clinic in Kharkiv, which is, according to Moiseyenko, one of the best medical establishments that specialize in the treatment of pathologies similar to that from which Tymoshenko is suffering.

At the same time, Moiseyenko did not say how long Tymoshenko’s treatment would take.

The director of the Professor M. Sytenko Institute of Spine and Joint Pathology, Mykola Korzh, who was also present at the meeting with journalists, said that everything depends on the therapy. According to him, the treatment will start with an examination, a clarification of the diagnosis and a correction of the medication system for Tymoshenko.

As reported, on April 2, Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka gave permission for Tymoshenko to obtain medical treatment outside the penal colony in Kharkiv where she is serving her sentence.

Later, the Health Ministry informed that Tymoshenko would undergo medical treatment at the central clinic of Ukrzaliznytsia in Kharkiv.

The State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine informed that the security for convicts, if they are taken from a penal colony, can be ensured by employees of the State Penitentiary Service and Interior Ministry troops, but the question of the security for Tymoshenko during her treatment outside the Kachanivska penal colony has not been resolved yet.
