Leader of the Front for Change Party Arseniy Yatseniuk has said that the summoning of Deputy Chairman of the Batkivschyna Party Oleksandr Turchynov for questioning by the Main Investigatory Department of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine proves that the authorities fear that the opposition may win the upcoming parliamentary elections, and that they wilol continue oppressing opposition leaders through law enforcement agencies.

"They summoned for questioning not just a person that carried out operational management at the Batkivschyna Party, but a person that was appointed by the united opposition as the head of the election headquarters and who is to become the key organizer of the campaign," the press service of the party quoted Yatseniuk as saying.

He also called on international organizations to pay attention to this fact.

"The attack on Turchynov, as the head of the headquarters, shows that the regime is frightened by the unification of the opposition, as a powerful united opposition is a real democratic alternative to the authoritarian criminal regime of [Ukrainian President Viktor] Yanukovych. But the authorities’ hopes to break us are in vain," he said.
