You're reading: Ukrainian opposition suspects massive misuse of Euro 2012 funds

After the Euro 2012 the Ukrainian opposition will insist on an inquiry into the use of funds in the preparation for the championship.

"We have decided that the day after the closing of the Euro 2012, the opposition will prepare serious hearings, both parliamentary and public, of the issues on how the budget funds were used in preparation for the Euro 2012," Deputy Speaker Mykola Tomenko (Yulia Tymoshenko’s bloc) said at a briefing in Kyiv on Friday.

Hopefully, the Prosecutor General’s Office "probably, not now but a little later, will still dot all the ‘i’s in what we believe was a massive embezzlement of budget funds under the aegis of preparations for the Euro 2012," the parliamentarian said.
