Regions Party leader Viktor Yanukovych and leader of the eponymous bloc, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko continue to top presidential ratings, but the opposition leader has every chance of beating the Ukrainian premier by a wide margin, according to a survey conducted by Research & Branding Group on October 12-22.

A total of 3,118 people from all Ukrainian regions participated in the poll. The poll’s margin of error is 2.2%.

The study showed that 31% of respondents would have voted for Yanukovych, 18.4% for Tymoshenko, and 9.6% for NGO Front for Change leader Arseniy Yatseniuk.

Some 3.5% of those polled said they would have voted for incumbent President Viktor Yushchenko, and the same percentage is ready to support Communist Party leader Petro Symonenko.

Some 3.6% of Ukrainians support well-known banker Sergiy Tigipko, 2.3% Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn, and 3% would have voted for other presidential candidates.

Moreover, 9.6% are ready to vote against all candidates, 6.8% said they would not go to polling stations, and 9% were undecided.

If Yanukovych and Tymoshenko had participated in the run-off, they would have received 41.9% and 29.8% of the vote respectively.
