Regions Party collects over 170 signatures to dismiss Tymoshenko's government

Nov 19, 2009 at 11:30 | Interfax-Ukraine
The parliamentary faction of the Regions Party has already collected 173 signatures in order to unseat the government led by Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, the faction's first deputy head, Oleksandr Yefremov, has said.

"One hundred and seventy-three signatures have already been collected. We're continuing to work on getting 226 votes, and as soon as they exist, we'll immediately register a bill [on a vote of no-confidence in the Cabinet of Ministers]," he told reporters in parliament on Nov. 19.

Yefremov said that 226 votes are required as the Regions Party needs real results, rather than shows.

He also said that if the necessary amount of votes is not collected in order to support the bill, the Regions Party would then say who refused to support the bill, i.e. those who "were involved in populism while voting for the law on a rise in social standards."
