You're reading: Ukrainian democrats may consider nomination of single presidential candidate – Yuschenko

Kyiv, December 19 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has suggested that a number of political parties and groups he described as democratic ones could hold negotiations within the next two weeks to nominate a common candidate in the upcoming presidential elections.

When asked whether democratic forces could consolidate around a single candidate at a meeting with voters in Vinnytsia on Friday, Yuschenko said, "This should not be started too early, because it is clear that everyone has their own goals, their own partisan plans and their own way. I think such negotiations should take place within the next two weeks."
