You're reading: Yatseniuk not to support either candidates in presidential run-off

Front for Change leader Arseniy Yatseniuk, who placed fourth in the Jan. 17 presidential election in Ukraine, has said that will support neither Victor Yanukovych nor Yulia Tymoshenko, the candidates that qualified for the second round of the election.

"I will go to the election and won’t support either of the candidates, as my political force is fighting against Tymoshenko and Yanukovych, against this political regime," Yatseniuk said at a press conference in Kyiv on Jan. 20.

Yatseniuk also said that the Front for Change would certainly participate in all of the next elections, in particular, the election to local government and any snap parliamentary election, as well as the next presidential election.

"I [represent] the core of Ukrainians who want a qualitatively better life, who want changes in Ukraine, [and] they will be able to vote [for this] again, because this is only the beginning, this is just the first step," Yatseniuk said.

At the same time Yatseniuk called on the other presidential candidates who failed to enter the second round not to support either of the two final candidates.

"If you support change, do not turn [the election] into a political market, do not haggle about positions – fight for Ukraine, for its future," he said.

Yatseniuk won 6.96% of the vote in the first round of the presidential election, according to the preliminary result derived from processing digital returns.
