The Mejlis (parliament) of Crimean Tatars has decided to support incumbent Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko in the second round of Ukraine's presidential election slated for February 7.

Members of the Mejlis unanimously passed this decision on Friday at a meeting dedicated to the presidential election in Ukraine.

In addition, many Crimean Tatars voted for Sergiy Tigipko, Victor Yushchenko, Arseniy Yatseniuk, and Anatoliy Hrytsenko in the first round of the election, the statement said.

"On the instructions of the Kurultai (congress) of Crimean Tatars, based on a detailed study of the election platforms and evaluation of the previous activities of Yulia Tymoshenko and Victor Yanukovych, the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars decided to support Yulia Timoshenko in the presidential run-off," the statement said.
