Yanukovych wins 48.81% of votes, Tymoshenko 45.61% after 99.42% of protocols counted

Yanukovych was supported by 12,370,334 voters, and Tymoshenko by 11,560,411. 4.37% of voters supported neither of the two candidates, and 1.19% of ballot paper were declared invalid. As Ukrainian News earlier reported, at 20:00, February 7, polling stations closed in the second round of the presidential elections, and the vote count started there. Ukraine had to choose the president between Yanukovych and Tymoshenko who achieved the best results in the first round of the presidential elections on January 17, 2010. According to the data of exit-polls, 48.5-50.26% of voters supported Yanukovych in the second round of the presidential elections and 44.2-45.7% supported Tymoshenko and separation between Yanukovych and Tymoshenko was 2.8-6.06%. The voter turnout was 69.07%. |
