Communist leader: New president must hold referendum on NATO and single economic space
Feb 9, 2010 at 13:01 | Interfax-UkraineSymonenko said that a relevant draft law to hold a national referendum on a public initiative regarding Ukraine's joining NATO and the single economic space had been registered in the parliament.
"An all-Ukrainian referendum must be held. There was the will of our people and this must be resolved," the leader of the communists said.
According to him, President Viktor Yuschenko postponed the all-Ukrainian referendum and, thus, violated the Constitution, but the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine must express its will once more and "demand that the new president take this decision."
