You're reading: People’s Self-Defense to enter ‘opposition to Yanukovych,’ says Lutsenko

The People's Self-Defense group will not participate in the formation of a new coalition in the parliament and remain faithful to the democratic coalition, leader of the People's Self-Defense Yuriy Lutsenko has said.

"I can say that from the first day we had three persons, headed by [David] Zhvania, who wanted and want to cooperate with the Regions Party to the point of the creating a coalition. The other 13 members of our group are faithful to the current coalition and the current government," Lutsenko said at a briefing in parliament on Tuesday.

According to him, 13 MPs offered their signatures in support of the acting coalition.

Lutsenko said that a sitting of the People’s Self-Defense group of MPs took place on Tuesday, during which 13 MPs again "confirmed that we would enter the opposition to the government of [President Viktor] Yanukovych.
