You're reading: Parliament appoints Khoroshkovsky SBU chief

The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has appointed Valeriy Khoroshkovsky as the head of the Security Service of Ukraine.

A total of 238 MPs supported this decision on Thursday.

As reported, on January 28, 2009 Ukraine’s President Viktor Yuschenko appointed Khoroshkovsky the first deputy head of the Security Service. On March 18, 2009 Khoroshkovsky was appointed the head of the anti-terroristic center at the Security Service.

From March 1, 2010, Khoroshkovsky had been the acting head of the Security Service, as SBU Head Valeriy Nalyvaichenko was on leave.
