Fedir Yaroshenko has been appointed head of the Ukrainian Finance Ministry.

The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, approved the new staff of the Cabinet of Ministers at a meeting on March 11.

Yaroshenko had a significant experience in the tax system and at the Finance Ministry. He has several times served as a civil servant under new Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.

Yaroshenko headed the State Tax Administration of Ukraine from June 2004 to March 2005 and worked as the administration's first deputy head from January 1997 to December 2002. He has served as deputy head of the State Tax Administration since March 2008 before his appointment as finance minister in March 2010.

Yaroshenko was first deputy finance minister from Dec. 2002 to June 2004.

He marked his 60th birthday on Dec. 5, 2009.
