Ex-deputy industry minister heads Industry Ministry

Dmytro Kolesnikov has been appointed Ukraine's new deputy industry minister following a vote by the Ukrainian parliament at its meeting on Thursday.

Kolesnikov served as the first deputy industry minister in the government of Premier Viktor Yanukovych from August 2006 to November 2007.

Kolesnikov was born in Kryvy Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region, in 1972.

He has a higher education. In 1998, he graduated from the State Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine in 1998, while in 2000-2002, he studied at Kyiv National Economic University.

From 1995 to 2006, he worked as a repair mechanic and then as executive director at the Central Ore Mining and Processing Enterprise.

He was the first deputy city mayor of Kryvy Rih from April to August 2006, and served as first deputy industry minister from August to November 2007.

In November 2007, he was elected to the Verkhovna Rada of the sixth convocation on the party ticket of the Regions Party.
