Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has thanked Petro Poroshenko for his effective work at the post of foreign minister.

He said this while introducing Ukraine's new foreign minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko on Thursday.

"Of course, I'd like to say a few good words about Petro Oleksiyovych Poroshenko and thank him for heading the Foreign Ministry in a difficult period for the country, and making a positive contribution," Yanukovych said.

He said that Poroshenko had a great potential to work in this direction.

"We'll certainly reach agreement with him and [he'll] again work for the sake of our country," Yanukovych said.
