The Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defense faction in the Ukrainian parliament will soon announce that is it is becoming an opposition faction, Serhiy Sobolev, the head of the opposition government and a member of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc faction in the parliament, said.

"We have asked our colleagues from OU-PSD to decide whether they are with [Ukrainian President Viktor] Yanukovych or the opposition. They have virtually made their choice and will announce their decision to join the opposition in the nearest future. After that, we are ready to unite to form an opposition of factions," Sobolev said in an interview published in the Friday edition of the newspaper Kommersant-Ukraine.

Sobolev recalled that the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc faction announced its decision to become an opposition faction on March 11, when the government led by Mykola Azarov was formed.

Sobolev also said five parties included in OU-PSD have created an opposition coordination council with the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc, which is led by Yulia Tymoshenko. "We are now forming the government and we have already formed three-fourths of it. We are expecting more proposals from our colleagues before the beginning of next week," he said.

Sobolev said no separate negotiations are being conducted with Arseniy Yatseniuk (OU-PSD). "We are not conducting any talks with Arseniy Yatseniuk, we are reaching agreements with OU-PSD. As far as we know, there is no deputy group called Front for Change in the faction. However, our proposal is made to everyone. The more people in the opposition, the easier it will be to combat the current illegal administration," he said.
