The Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defense (OU-PSD) faction has taken no decision to join an opposition union in the Verkhovna Rada along with the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko (BYT), OU-PSD faction leader Mykola Martynenko told Interfax-Ukraine on Friday.

He said that the OU-PSD, earlier than the BYT, had decided on its plans to go into opposition to the new government and was not planning to confirm this every time at the BYT's request.

"The fact that certain MPs from our faction joined the BYT is evidence of only their own position and the search by them for new political prospects. If somebody is collecting signatures to nominate our faction as 'a junior partner' of the BYT, then this does not and will not have any consequences. The OU-PSD as a faction is not planning to join Tymoshenko's shadow government," Martynenko said.
