The members of Poltava Regional Council have elected Volodymyr Marchenko of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko faction as chairman of the council.

A total of 72 out of 82 members of the council present at the session hall voted for this decision at an extraordinary session on Apr. 20.

Poltava regional council consists of 90 members.

As reported, in March, Oleksandr Udovichenko, who earlier headed Poltava Regional Council, was appointed governor of Poltava region. He is also the leader of the local branch of the Regions Party.

Marchenko then became acting head of Poltava Regional Council.
