The Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko may obstruct the work of the Verkhovna Rada in order to prevent the ratification of the agreement to extend the presence of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Ukraine.

"The opposition must prevent the ratification of the Medvedev-Yanukovych Pact. We will use lawful methods. Let us see how the coalition responds. We do not rule out blocking [the parliament]," Verkhovna Rada Deputy-Speaker Mykola Tomenko told reporters on Apr. 22.

Meanwhile, Party of Regions deputy Vadym Kolesnichenko is positive that the parliament will ratify the deal, which extends the fleet in Ukraine until 2042.

"Certainly, the agreement will be ratified, because the parliament has much more wise people than those who care for nothing but themselves. It will be ratified despite the whining and sniffling of the people who had been ruining the future of Ukraine and its defense sector," he told Interfax on Thursday.

Asked how soon the ratification may take place, he said everything depends on President Viktor Yanukovych who is due to submit the draft to the parliament.
