The Cabinet of Ministers involved Trout Cacheris (Washington, D.C., United States) in auditing activity of the previous Cabinet, Ukrainian News has learned from the governmental press service. A corresponding agreement has been signed with this firm, based on May 5 Government Resolution.

The press service says Cabinet to choose this firm for the audit for its remarkable reputation and experience in dealing with highly publicised criminal cases on financial activities of state bodies of various countries and for its investigations to be acclaimed authoritative.

"This Washington-based firm has never had and has no commercial interest in Ukraine, no relations with the Ukrainian political business elite, and this guarantees complete absence of bias in the investigation," the press service said.

The government notes, the company is led by Plato Cacheris and Robert P. Trout, former U.S. Department of Justice attorneys of highest professionalism; while Trout Cacheris itself works with well-known investigation and law firms, specifically with Kroll Associated and Akin Gump.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Finance Minister Fedir Yaroshenko believes the U.S. law firm Trout Cacheris PLLC, which the Cabinet of Ministers decided to hire for checking up effectiveness of use of budget means by the preceding government, to be competent.

In September 2001, the American detective agency Kroll Associated carried out a six-month investigation and established that then president Leonid Kuchma had nothing to do with the murder of journalist Georgy Gongadze.
