The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has rejected a bill amending some legislative acts concerning social guarantees for health workers.

The bill proposed paying bonuses to health workers for long service as a percentage of their monthly official salary (wage rate) depending on the length of service in the following amounts: over three years – 10%, over ten years – 20%, and over 20 years – 30%.

The amendments envisaged the provision of an annual payment equal to one salary for the exemplary performance of duties. It was also proposed to render assistance totaling one monthly salary to health workers for health improvement.

The bill also included social guarantees to workers of culture and institutions of social protection.
