Crimea, June 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov is planning soon to make a working visit to Crimea in order to establish a dialog with the local community of Crimean Tatars.
"We are ready to hold a dialog, and I’m planning to make a working visit to Crimea," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday, when asked to comment on a recent statement by the Crimean Tatars, in which they expressed dissatisfaction with the activities of the current authorities.
"We’re currently considering this issue there, and reviving the dialog with Crimean Tatars," Azarov said.
He said that he was a supporter of a bilateral dialog and understanding, rather than the giving of ultimatums in this matter.
The Avdet NGO reported that a new protest by Crimean Tatars outside the building of the administration of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych began on Wednesday, June 23.
"The aims of the protesters are to draw the president’s attention to the despotism of the local authorities and the sabotage of presidential initiatives at the local level," reads the report by the organization.
The protesters said they were planning to ask Yanukovych to personally oversee the settlement of the land issue on the Crimean peninsula.
