You're reading: Viktor Yanukovych presents Yaroslav the Wise award to Andriy Stryzhak

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has presented the Prince Yaroslav the Wise Award (fourth degree) to Andriy Stryzhak, the ex-chairman of the Constitutional Court (2007-2010).

Stryzhak was awarded "for his significant personal contribution to nation-building and the development of constitutional jurisdiction in Ukraine," reads a respective decree signed by the president on Monday.

Stryzhak was elected chairman of the Constitutional Court on July 10, 2007. Under the law on the Constitutional Court, the court’s chairman is elected for three years without any right of re-election.

On July 12, 2010, Anatoliy Holovin was appointed chairman of the Constitutional Court.
