You're reading: Action plan on visa-free regime could be similar to that received by Balkan countries

Brussels, July 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The action plan on a visa-free regime between Ukraine and the European Union will be similar to that previously received by the Balkan countries, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin told Ukrainian journalists after high-level talks held between Ukraine and Belgium in Brussels.

"This plan will be structured, but in terms of content and logic it will be identical to that granted to the Balkan countries. This is constantly emphasized by the European Commission."

He said that the result of the discussion, which is still continuing, "would be a set of clear criteria for what Ukraine should do to get the action plan in future."

"One of the ideas being currently discussed is an action plan [that will be implemented] in two stages: key legislative and institutional reforms will be launched in the first stage, while the second will be dedicated to the technical stage of implementation," Klimkin said.
