The government is working on a project to overcome crisis in the construction sector and resume active building of housing, Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister Sergiy Tigipko has said.

"Today we have an opportunity to reform the construction sector. That is why I propose that you, the representatives of the branch, make your suggestions on resuming tthe work of the sector as soon as possible, which, in fact, is a motive power of the state," he said during a meeting with the Ukrainian Building Association (UBA) in Kyiv on Thursday.

Tigipko did not specify other details on the project.

During the meeting, Head of the Board of the UBA Lev Partskhaladze handed a list of the main problems in the construction sector and possible ways of solving them to the vice premier.

"Today, the key tasks lie in the simplification of the licensing system in the construction sector and more strictly holding officials' to account for violating regulations," he added.
