Interpol says it is looking for former Economy Minister Bohdan Danylyshyn based on an arrest warrant issued by Kyiv's Pechersky district court. interpol.int Former Economy Minister Bohdan Danylyshyn said by phone on Sept. 2 that he is ill and unavailable to be questioned by Ukrainian law-enforcement officials. He said that he would return to Ukraine when his medical treatment ends.

Interpol, the world's largest police organization, on Aug. 28 posted a notice to its website saying it wants to detain Danylyshyn in connection with an arrest warrant for alleged fraud.

State prosecutors have opened a criminal case against Danylyshyn under part 2, Article 364 of the Criminal Code, on charges of causing damages to the state totalling HR 4.5 million during the coordination of procurement procedures with the state-run Boryspil International Airport.

Some media have reported that Danylyshyn is in hiding in Germany. Opposition leaders, including former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Turchnynov, maintain that charges brought against former cabinet officials, including Danylyshyn and others, are politically motivated.
