You're reading: Antimonopoly committee head to run for Odesa mayor from Regions Party

Head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine Oleksiy Kostusev has been approved by the Regions Party as its candidate for Odesa mayor, reads a posting on his personal Web site.

This decision was taken at a meeting of the Regions Party’s central office on August 30, reads the posting.

"I hope the Strong Ukraine Party will also support my candidacy, [Vice Premier] Sergiy Tigipko talked about this. I also hope for support from the Rodina Party, headed by Ihor Markov, and other strong politicians in opposition to [current Odesa Mayor Eduard] Hutvits," Kostusev said.

"We are forming a strong union, which will win at the election and with which we will work and create a powerful team to lead Odesa to the top positions in Ukraine," the politician added.
