The police are ready to give the appropriate response to any actions by political forces, including insinuations and aggression, during the forthcoming local elections, Ukrainian Interior Minister Anatoliy Mohyliov has said.

"We are ready for any actions, including aggression, mudslinging and various insinuations. We are ready to give an appropriate response," the minister told Interfax-Ukraine.

He said the police have adequate resources for preventing various offences.

"The task of the police is to prevent violations of civil order. We will definitely cope with this task. The level of force used to achieve this will depend on the numbers of the conflicting sides," said the minister.

"We have no doubt that everything will be in order!" Mohyliov said.
