President of the Open Policy Analytical Center Ihor Zhdanov said that the dismissal of the Ukrainian government was unavoidable. A number of Ukrainian experts have predicted the dismissal of the government led by Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.

President of the Open Policy Analytical Center Ihor Zhdanov said a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday that the dismissal of the Ukrainian government was unavoidable.

The expert said that this was due to the accumulation of negative sentiments among Ukrainian citizens on a number of social aspects.

"We can predict that the 'honeymoon of the new authorities,' carte blanche given by the public to [Ukrainian President] Viktor Yanukovych, will end in late September 2010," Zhdanov said.

He said that current surveys had indicated that Yanukovych's approval rating was significantly falling.

Director of Berta Communications Taras Berezovets, in turn, said he was confident that the Cabinet of Ministers would be disbanded.

"I think the government will be dismissed," he said, adding that it is unclear when this can happen.

Berezovets said that Yuriy Boiko, who currently serves as Ukraine's fuel and energy minister, could be a main candidate for the post of prime minister.

The expert said that if Boiko obtained a merger between Gazprom and Naftogaz Ukrainy, he would have every chance of heading the Ukrainian government.

He also said that First Vice-Premier Andriy Kliuyev, Vice-Premier Borys Kolesnikov and Head of Ukraine's Presidential Administration Serhiy Liovochkin could be other candidates for the premier's post.

Azarov was appointed prime minister on March 11, 2010.
