Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has warned local officials against trying to influence the results of the local elections scheduled for October 31.

"I am warning everybody against the use of any administrative leverage during the election campaign. Be fair and careful," he told the heads of regional administrations and mayors of cities and towns present at the meeting of the Council of Regions in Bucha, Kyiv region.

At the same time, Yanukovych called on local officials in no case to interfere in the activities of election commissions.

The president instructed Prime Minister Mykola Azarov to control the funding of local elections.

"You are personally responsible," he told the premier.

In addition, Yanukovych urged all the participants of the elections not to politicize the voting process.
