Ukraine hopes for supports of Bulgaria with regard to creating a free trade zone under a European Union Association Agreement, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.

The Ukrainian premier announced this at a meeting with Bulgarian Parliament Speaker Tsetska Tsacheva Dangovska in Kyiv on Monday, the government’s press service told Interfax-Ukraine.

Azarov said that the Ukrainian government expects Bulgaria to take an active position on Ukraine’s integration with the European Union, including on the issue of the free trade zone.

"We insist on a free trade zone without limitations and withdrawals, with equal rights and possibilities for both sides," Azarov said.

"Either we have a free trade zone on an equal-rights basis, or we won’t have one. Ukraine has those to trade with in the world, due to its rights as a member of the World Trade Organization."
