You're reading: Central Election Commission forms 670 territorial election commissions

The Central Electoral Commission has formed 670 territorial election commissions.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that ten commission members supported the decision at a commission meeting on Wednesday and four members had voted against it.

Deputy Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission Zhanna Usenko-Chorna said that this decision should not have been taken, as a number of territorial election commissions in Kyiv region included commission members under a motion submitted by the Kyiv regional branch of the Batkivschyna Party, which, in her opinion, was not legitimate.

She said that the regional branch was headed by Volodymyr Maibozhenko, who had been expelled from the Batkivschyna Party

However, the Central Election Commission rejected her objections.

At the same time, the commission supported changes in the composition of a number of territorial election commissions in Lviv region that are overseen by Usenko-Chorna.

Commission member Oleksandr Shelestov proposed replacing the leaders of a number of territorial election commissions under a motion from the Lviv regional party headed by Ivan Denkovych.

Eight commission members voted for these changes.

As reported, Wednesday, September 15, was the deadline for the formation by the Central Election Commission of territorial election commissions.
