Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said Ukraine needs an Electoral Code, and it will be adopted.

The head of state said this at the first meeting of the third Donbass Investment Destination international investment summit, entitled "Public-Private Partnership in the Context of Ukraine’s New Economic Policy," which was held in Donetsk on Wednesday.

"With regard to the future: Of course, we will improve our legislation, we will adopt an Electoral Code so that laws are not approved on the eve of elections, but so that [the legislation is] stable, and political forces, the participants in the election process – everybody knows them and observes [the law]," the president said.

Yanukovych also said he ordered local government agencies and the Cabinet of Ministers to strictly observe electoral legislation.
