Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said that the wording of the question of whether Ukraine will "choose between Russia and Europe" is wrong.

He announced this at a joint press conference with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev after the first Russian-Ukrainian interregional economic forum in Gelendzhik, Russia, on Monday.

"A question was recently posed to me at the Yalta forum, ‘Do you choose between Russia and Europe?’ I told them, ‘Pose a question to Russia whether it will choose between Europe and Ukraine.’ In general, the wording of the question is wrong. We are independent states, and we’re building an independent Ukraine. And we have special plans with our Russian colleagues and neighbors. They are very interesting to us, and we will implement them," Yanukovych said.
