Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych met with 42nd President of the United States William Clinton in Kyiv on Monday, the presidential press service reported.

Yanukovych thanked Clinton for his interest in Ukraine, in particular for his participation in the seventh annual summit in Yalta.

"The interest in the summit and the number of politicians and businessmen taking part in it is constantly growing," Yanukovych said calling the event a Ukrainian Davos.

For his part, Clinton noted that he had long been interested in Ukraine. The fund he set up has been providing medicines for over 19,000 people having AIDS in Ukraine, the politician said.

Clinton said that during his speech to the youth in Kyiv, he urged them to pass tests for HIV/AIDS, to prevent the spread of the disease.

The Ukrainian president, in turn, welcomed the U.S. ex-president’s activities in Kyiv.
