Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych during a telephone conversation with British Prime Minister David Cameron discussed the prospects of Ukraine's rapprochement with Europe and the state of bilateral relations.

During the conversation, the two officials expressed mutual interest in strengthening the Ukrainian-British relations at all levels, the press service of the Ukrainian president reported on Wednesday.

Yanukovych and Cameron paid special attention to the changes that occurred in Ukraine following the decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine dated October 1, 2010 to reverse the political reform of 2004. Yanukovych said that Ukraine returned to the presidential-parliamentary form of government.

"This decision of the Constitutional Court has brought Ukraine back into the legal field," the president said.

The head of state recalled that the Venice Commission put the 1996 Constitution of Ukraine among the world’s best.

"Of all people, I am most interested that the processes taking place in Ukraine should be transparent and democratic, complying with the rule of law," the president said.
