Helsinki, Oct. 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Regions Party leader, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, has offered his Finnish counterpart Mari Kiviniemi to establish cooperation between the Regions Party and the Center Party, which she heads.

Azarov’s press secretary Vitaliy Lukianenko told this to reporters after a meeting between the premiers in Helsinki on Wednesday.

"Prime Minister Mykola Azarov offered the Finnish premier to establish cooperation between the Regions Party and the Center Party, which she heads, since, in his opinion, a multi-channel flow of information and an exchange of views help create an objective picture of the situation in our countries and contribute to deepening and expanding our cooperation," he said.

Lukianenko quoted Azarov as saying that the lack of inter-party political contacts led to a "distorted picture of what is happening in countries."

In particular, this results in inappropriate statements by the European People’s Party on domestic affairs in Ukraine.

Azarov said he wanted "Europe to heed all of the opinions expressed in Ukraine while forming an objective picture and giving an objective assessment."
