You're reading: Yanukovych orders officials not to meddle in election campaign

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said that public officials should create all the conditions for fair and transparent elections into local authorities.

"Today, I want to raise the level of responsibility of officials, of those, who are involved in these elections and tell them: if there are registered any violations or administrative pressure from representatives of the authorities, I will dismiss these people at the least. They should not prevent people from voting. They should not impede the expression of will," he told reporters in Rivne, the presidential press service reported.

Yanukovych stressed that there are political forces in Ukraine, which have already lost the trust of the Ukrainian people. "Today they are already speaking about the electoral fraud, so that they could justify their low rating before the voters," he said.

The president said that he invited all the parties to partnership, to work constructively for the sake of the state and its interests.
