You're reading: Svoboda group names its Ivano-Frankivsk council members

The Ivano-Frankivsk City Election Commission named on Tuesday 59 members of the 60-strong Ivano-Frankivsk City Council, because the Svoboda All-Ukrainian Association is one deputy short to fill its quota, which the party won in the election to the city council on October 31.

As a result of the election, Svoboda has garnered 35 seats in the city council (eleven seats for candidates running on the party’s list and 24 for the winners in single member constituencies). However, the Svoboda’s election list had only ten members. After discussions, the city election commission decided to announce 59 members of the city council and wait for the clarifications from the Central Election Commission regarding the vacancy for a representative of the Svoboda Association.

As reported, eight parties won seats on Ivano-Frankivsk City Council. Apart from Svoboda, the Front for Change Party has got nine seats on the council. Five seats went to the Batkivschyna All-Ukrainian Union, four to the Regions Party. The Our Ukraine, the Tretia Syla (Third Force) and the UDAR Party will have two seats each. The Sobor Ukrainian Republican Party will have one representative in the council.
