Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister Andriy Kliuyev has introduced the new head of Luhansk Regional State Administration, Volodymyr Prystiuk, an Interfax-Ukraine reporter has said.

Kliuyev said in Luhansk on Friday that Prystiuk had worked in Luhansk region all his life and that he had extensive experience in respective work.

"I hope that he will work with dignity at his post and bring Luhansk region out of the current difficult situation," he said.

Prystiuk, in turn, thanked Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and Prime Minister Mykola Azarov for their confidence in him.

He noted that Luhansk region had always been among the leading regions in Ukraine and that it had a high economic and intellectual potential.

"There are people here who can resolve any tasks," Prystiuk said.

Kliuyev also congratulated the former head of the regional state administration, Valeriy Holenko, on his election as head of Luhansk Regional Council.

As reported, on November 10, the president appointed Prystiuk as head of Luhansk Regional State Administration.

Under another decree, the head of state appointed Volodymyr Prystiuk as chairman of Luhansk Regional State Administration," the presidential press service reported.

On November 12, the deputies of Luhansk Regional Council elected Holenko the chairman of the council.

Holenko, born in 1958, is a Regions Party member. He has served as chairman of Luhansk Regional Council since April 2006.

Prystiuk, born in 1960, is a Regions Party member. On March 19, 2010, he was elected the head of Luhansk Regional Council in place of Holenko. He earlier held the post of the first deputy head of the regional council.
