The newly elected mayor of Zaporizhia, Oleksandr Sin, has announced that he is leaving the Batkivschyna Party.

Sin made this statement at a press conference on Monday.

"I am giving up membership of the Batkivschyna party to be able to work normally, [and] so that no political context is a source of provocations and insinuations about me. I am grateful to the party, that it supported my decision," Sin said, explaining his decision.

According to the mayor, he intends to fulfill all of his election promises, in particular, to declare war on corruption in the city, and said that his program is based on the election platform of the Batkivschyna Party.

"I’m going to bring a serious fight to corruption in Zaporizhia. I have never taken bribes, and I will not do this, and I will make it so that anyone who takes bribes will have to leave his post or even go to jail," Sin added.
