You're reading: President orders creation of new wording of Ukraine’s military doctrine

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has issued a decree under which the Defense Ministry of Ukraine is to create a new wording of Ukraine's military doctrine.

In particular, the president ordered the Cabinet of Ministers within a month after the adoption of the new military doctrine of Ukraine and in line with the established order to submit drafts of a strategic military bulletin of Ukraine and a comprehensive state program for the reform and development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for 2011-2015.

In addition, Yanukovych ordered the cabinet to foresee in a draft law on the national budget of Ukraine for 2011 expenditures to ensure the financing of Ukraine’s Armed Forces at the level needed to maintain the defense capacity of the state.

The president ordered the government to approve within three months a national program for the development of the weapons and military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for 2011-2015, as well as to draw up and implement a single authorized system to manage the Armed Forces of Ukraine and transfer communications systems of Ukraine’s Armed Forces to digital means of communications.

According to the decree, the cabinet has to take measures to raise the financial provision of servicemen of Ukraine’s Armed Forces in 2011.

Decree No.1119/2010 on the decision by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine of November 17, 2010 on challenges and threats to Ukraine’s national security in 2011 has been posted on the official Web site of the head of state.
