Ukraine has expanded the geographic scope of its foreign policy and is preparing to develop relations with countries "defining the image of the new world," Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

"This year, Ukraine has taken decisive steps towards increasing the geographic range of its foreign policy… my September visit to China was only the first step of the process of expanding the horizons of national foreign policy," he said in Kyiv on Tuesday at the tenth meeting of heads of Ukraine’s diplomatic missions.

According to Yanukovych, Ukraine is planning to develop diplomatic ties with the countries that define the image of the new world, such as Japan, India, Turkey, Brazil, Mexico, Indonesia, and South Korea.

The president said partnership with these countries promises economic benefits to Ukraine.
