Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said that the criticism of the draft state budget for 2011 by the opposition is unconstructive.

"We expected constructive criticism of the draft budget from the opposition, but have received nothing but baseless allegations and a gross distortion of the facts," he said opening the government’s meeting on Wednesday.

Azarov said he regretted that instead of participating in improving the draft state budget for 2011, the opposition had again resorted to the "tiresome demagogy, and unfounded accusations."

The prime minister said that the authorities were doing their best to ensure the country would start the new year with a new budget.
